Our 2014 Suggestions

Visiting Williamsburg , Virginia and wondering where to eat at?
Try our Top  List for starts:
(There is no rated order to the Restaurants - Just pick by the food you are interested in !)

Holy Mackerel - Seafood Restaurant - A relative newcomer to the Williamsburg restaurant scene Holy Mackerel now occupies the space that was once JM Randalls. Don't let this keep you away though - the space has been totally remolded inside and is very clean and modern. It has a warm inviting appeal to its decor. The food is amazing and is in our humble opinion the best Seafood Restaurant in the Williamsburg area. If you are in the mood for Seafood then this is the one restaurant we recommend you try. It is a little off the beaten path and you won't find it it the "Tourist Trap Row" of Richmond Rd. but it is only about 5 minutes drive from that are so don't fret. Visit their site for more information on their menu:

Bangkok Garden - Thai Restaurant - What can I say? This restaurant is great ! It has everything you would expect for a great Thai restaurant and then some. The dishes are fresh and inviting and something on the menu is sure to please everyone in your party. Spicy dishes, Mild Dishes, and even a kids menu. The Service is great and the staff are there to please. Also don't forget to try their wonderful appetizers and deserts. Come Hungry and leave satisfied ! This is a wonderful dinning experience.

Kyoto - Japanese Steakhouse - Our whole family enjoys Kyoto - Featuring a Restaurant and a Sushi Bar. My kids get to choose a restaurant to dine at each year on their birthday and every year one or both of them choose Kyoto. The food is fabulous. If you have never been to a Japanese Steakhouse then this restaurant is a must during your visit to Williamsburg.  A great place for a couple or a family with children. The Chefs prepare your food at your table and are very interactive with the guests and even more so with the children. But prehaps the main reason for going to Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse is because the food is delicious. The Steak is flavorful and tender, the Shrimp grilled to perfection and what can I say - I love the Salad and the soup ! My Children love their Fried Rice.  One warning - it is a little steep on the pricing , I would suggest you look for a coupon usually available in the Tourist Booklets prior to your visit.

Peter Chang - Chinese Restaurant - Peter Chang Restaurant opened in 2013 in Williamsburg. There are a lot of "Chinese Restaurants" in Williamsburg but most are not worth visiting. We have mixed feelings about this restaurant all in our family likes it but my wife says that they put too much garlic in the food. I don't see the problem myself. My children liked the Fried Rice. My father in Law had the Duck and was very satisfied with it. If you are in the mood for Chinese I think more than not you will enjoy this restaurant. It is new and clean inside and our overall experience is positive.

South of the Border - Mexican Restaurant  - Williamsburg like many towns, has its share of Mexican Restaurants but finding a consistently good one is hard. South of the Border has been around for a few years and has very good Mexican Food. Granted the building is old but for me it just adds to the atmosphere. We have been here many times over the years and for the most part have been very happy with the food quality. The service has always been great. The prices are very reasonable and most leave here full and happy ! The Fajitas are always enjoyable for me !

El Sabroson - Latin American Restaurant - If you are not familiar with South American food then you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It is very similar to Mexican food but also is different. Some of the items you will find familiar like the Taquitos and Quesadillas but you will also find items like Papusas and Fried Plaintains and Fried Yucca. The flavors are wonderful and it is a great culinary experience. If you are looking for a new type of food experience I suggest giving this place a visit.

Nazar - Mediterranean Restaurant - In the mood for something a little different? Personally I'm the type of person that is fearful of trying new styles of food for dinner but I force myself to break free of the mold every once in a while and more often than not, I am usually happy I did. You don't have to be afraid of this restaurant though. The food is different but familiar and the taste is very good. Break away from the "chain restaurants" and give Nazar a try. I believe you will be glad you did and will add to your Vacation experience !

Sals by Victor - Italian Restaurant -  The best Italian food in Williamsburg - by far ! ( Caution: There is a restaurant named Sal's in the area - be sure you don't confuse them with Sal's by Victor) The place is always packed so you have to deal with busy crowds of people but they are there for a reason. The reason is the great Italian food! When my family is in the mood for Italian this is where we go. I have never had a meal at Sal's by Victor that I did not enjoy.. This is the one Italian Restaurant in Williamsburg you must try if you are looking for this genre of food !

Guiseppe's Italian Restaurant - Another  great local Italian Restaurant - a little more upscale (Higher Priced & better atmosphere)  than Sal's by Victor but just as good in the food taste. If you are looking for a better atmospere for your Italian dinning then this one should be your choice.

A Chef's Kitchen -Upscale Gourmet Dinning Experience -  One of the Top Rated if not the Top Restaurant in the Williamsburg area. More than Dinner - Its a Dinning Experience. Reservations are a must. Here are some of the Review Titles from popular restaurant review sites: "A Real Gem"; "Worth every Penny"; "Delicious and Entertaining"; :"5 Star Experience";  "Worth Making Reservations a Month in Advance" - Bottom line : Almost everyone loves this place. The down side - Reservations are a must and it is expensive.
A great place for Special Occasions.

Le Yaca - French Restaurant -  I have to admit I have not been to this restaurant since they moved to their new location on High Street but I have to include it based on my past experiences and the fact that my wife and several friends also love this restaurant. Le Yaca is consistently one of the best dinning experiences in Williamsburg. With an average price of $31 - $50 per entree it is a bit expensive but worth it. Reservations are usually a must and is highly recommended. My favorite ? The pepper Crusted Beef Tenderloin !

Opus 9 Steakhouse - If you have to have a steak you got to go to Opus 9. A upscale steakhouse with entrees in the $30-$50 range. Located in the Newtown Shopping area.

Sportsman Grille - Sports Bar  - Casual Dinning Restaurant - Looking for some basic American food and Casual dinning? Then consider trying The Sportsman Grille - Located over by Busch Gardens it has a decent menu of dinners and Sandwiches at reasonable prices. Casual dinning experiences are hard to find in the area that doesn't involve a chain restaurant. The menu is good, the atmosphere is good and the food tastes good.
